Derbyshire Manufacturing Network

There has been a strong contingent of Dales & Peaks businesses amongst the founding members of the Derbyshire Manufacturing Network. There are some specific challenges relating to manufacturers in such rural areas, whether they be recruiting and retaining staff or seeking to expand factories and capability in areas of natural beauty where planning permission has to weigh up the dual priorities of conservation and economic growth.

Perhaps here more than anywhere else, East Midlands Manufacturing Network plays a vital part in helping to escalate and find solutions through one unified and influential voice.

The neighbouring areas of Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire face different challenges of continual reinvention following the demise of the once-dominant coal industry.

The Derbyshire Manufacturing Network meets at the Devonshire Dome, Buxton a Grade II listed building which is also home to the University of Derby; a perfect venue to illustrate how engineering heritage still has a place today.

East Midlands Manufacturing Network Members are also invited to host East Midlands Manufacturing Network meetings, providing an opportunity to showcase their manufacturing facilities to their peers across the region.
